From December 13 to 18, the 12th edition of Femina - International Women's Film Festival will take place. The festival has been encouraging and celebrating women's audiovisual production since 2004 (it is the first Latin American festival of films directed by women) and has had the support and partnership of the ELAS Fund on several occasions.

64 films from 18 countries and all Brazilian regions will be screened, divided into an International Competition, a National Competition and Special Programs, including a children's program.

In addition to the films, Femina's program includes the Femina Seminar, whose theme this year is "Feminisms, Cinema and Intersectionality: dialogues and strategies of resistance". The debate panels will discuss women in audiovisual, curatorship and criticism as political spaces, harassment, rape culture and violence against women.

The ELAS Fund's communications manager, Renata Saavedra, will take part in the Seminar's second panel, "On power and violence: erasure, harassment and rape culture", which will take place on Thursday 14th at 1pm.

Femina 2017 will also pay tribute to filmmaker Sandra Werneck, producer Vania Catani and actress Laura Cardoso.

Femina 2017 is sponsored by Riofilme and the Rio de Janeiro State Department of Culture, and organized by Instituto Femina and CCBB/RJ.
