Our development manager Vanessa Lucena is taking part in the 12th Business and LGBT Rights Forum in São Paulo today (23/06).

There is a lot of discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual, transvestite, transsexual and transgender people in the business environment and in the job market. With this in mind, in 2013 the Ethos Institute created the Business and LGBT Rights Forum, which seeks to foster debate and encourage companies to adopt actions aimed at the LGBT public, in order to build a labor market that respects and promotes human rights in general and the rights of this public in particular.

The Forum launched the manual "The Commitment of Companies to LGBT Human Rights" and a letter with ten commitments to strengthen or create actions linked to the promotion of LGBT rights. Among the more than 80 signatories are SAP, Carrefour, IBM, Accenture, Alcoa, Basf, Caixa, Dow, HSBC, P&G and PwC.

The meeting also enables the exchange of good practices that promote an inclusive environment for LGBT people in companies.

Check out the 10 commitments made by companies to promote LGBT rights:

1. Commit - presidency and executives - to respecting and promoting LGBT rights.
2. Promote equal opportunities and fair treatment for LGBT people.
