About the Technovation Challenge
Technovation is now the world's largest competition for girls in technology. The program began in 2010 in Mountain View, California, and in its second year it has already expanded to other cities in the state, such as Los Angeles, Berkeley, San Francisco and San José, as well as Boston and New York.
In 2013, the competition was opened globally for the first time and saw the participation of more than 600 girls from countries such as India, China, Indonesia, England, Ukraine, Ghana, Nigeria and Brazil.
In these 5 years, more than 2,750 primary and secondary school girls have developed more than 500 apps and learned the skills they need to become successful entrepreneurs!
Technovation is a program run by the American NGO Iridescent, which connects science and engineering mentors with families to inspire children and young people to become creators and inventors. In its 7 years of existence, Iridescent has trained more than 500 mentors and impacted more than 16,000 families in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, Chicago and New York.
