The "Elas em movimento" program, an achievement of Chevron through ELAS, has reached a new stage. On July 24 and 25, around 20 women from the Cidade de Deus (RJ) community took part in the "Dialogues for Improving Living Conditions", organized by Rebouças & Associados. On the occasion, they discussed the reality of the community and their dreams, as well as analyzing opportunities and creating businesses that could reach the locality.

"I'm leaving here a different woman, in every sense. Do you know what it's like to be a housewife? You get up like a robot, go to the bathroom, brush your teeth, tidy up after the kids, make coffee, iron and wash. You're on automatic all day. Now, I know that I have the capacity to think about a lot of things outside of this automatic. My head is like a pressure cooker: it's boiling! Today, I saw that it's possible to be more," commented one of the participants.
The women who make up this new group in the program have an average age of 26. In general, they are single, brown or black and have a family income of R$ 600.00. After the dialogues, they will receive training in women's human rights, conflict resolution, communication and marketing, tips on how to handle money and entrepreneurship. A consultant will also help format the business.
"I didn't know I had this ability. Sometimes you hear from your husband: you're no good at anything. And I got here and I know I'm good. I'm a woman, I'm a warrior, I have the capacity, and from now on it's for the better," said another member of the City of God dialogues.
