From March 16 to 20, ELAS coordinators Amália Fischer and Madalena Guilhon took part in the 11th Feminist Meeting of Latin America and the Caribbean, which took place in Mexico. The meeting focused on fundamentalism and how this aspect has increased the situations of vulnerability experienced by women.
Various activities, including lectures, panels, presentations and cultural and artistic moments, made up the meeting and brought different perspectives on how fundamentalist ideas affect women's lives and fragment the structures that feed social movements.
"For ELAS, the most important thing was the opportunity to take part in a debate with the other Women's Funds in Latin America that make up a Consortium (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Central America), spreading the word about the Funds' objectives, as well as the good repercussions of a press conference on Mexican public online TV," says ELAS general coordinator Madalena Guilhon.
