EMPODERA - Fashion Transforming Lives
Applications are now open for the EMPODERA Call for Proposals - Fashion Transforming Lives.
Created in 2016 through a partnership between the Lojas Renner Institute and UN Women, the first edition of the EMPODERA Call for Proposals impacted more than a thousand women. Currently, two groups participating in the initiative are part of Lojas Renner S.A.'s supply chain, representing not only the capacity building of these collectives, but also the company's commitment to incorporating concrete measures to strengthen women-led businesses into its practices.
This second edition of the EMPODERA Call for Proposals is a joint initiative of ELAS+, the Lojas Renner Institute and UN Women Brazil.
There will be a total investment of more than R$2 million in the initiative, of which R$1.5 million will be donated directly to 20 groups that work to transform the lives of women and trans people through fair, inclusive and responsible fashion projects in the broad sense, covering the plus size, non-binary fashion, affirmation of identities and access to fashion for people with disabilities segments. Also included are the sectors of home fashion and handicrafts, thrift stores and upcycling, as well as projects that benefit refugee women, trans women, women who have left the prison system and those in situations of deprivation of liberty.
Applications are open until May 25 and formal and informal groups, networks or civil society organizations with initiatives led by cis and trans women, aligned with the concepts of well-being, diversity, responsible fashion and professional and technological training, can apply.
