From October 19 to 22, the TransArte Festival takes place in Rio, an integrated arts show that explores themes such as gender identity and sexuality. There are four days of activities, with 17 productions and more than 40 artists, including theater shows, performances, short film screenings, an exhibition, a symposium, drag queens and a workshop.
Videos produced by the ELAS Fund and grantees in our of the last call for proposals are being shown throughout the event, which takes place at the Calouste Gulbenkian Cultural Center in downtown Rio de Janeiro. The entire program is free.
Through its multidisciplinary programming, the TransArte Festival contributes to the practice of values such as respect for differences, non-violence, democratization of access to cultural goods, equal rights and freedom of expression.
The ELAS Fund congratulates the Festival's producers for this, and for tackling the issue of gender, recognizing and valuing trans people and transvestites.
