The ELAS Fund and the Avon Institute, partners since 2012, announce the results of the 4th Call for Proposals of the Speak Without Fear Fund, which supports actions by civil society groups and organizations that promote the fight against violence against women. Launched on November 25, 2017, the International Day of Non-Violence against Women, the 4th Call for Proposals of the Speak Without Fear Fund will invest a total of R$ 1,300,000.00 to end violence against women.

Twenty projects were selected from groups and organizations in the states of Amazonas, Bahia, Ceará, Espírito Santo, Maranhão, Minas Gerais, Pará, Paraíba, Paraná, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, Roraima and São Paulo.

The projects work to end violence against women, as described in the Maria da Penha Law, and are led by black women, indigenous, trans, lesbian, dam-affected communities, among others, focusing on public policies and social control or social mobilization and communication.

"We would like to thank all the organizations that have contributed, through their ideas and initiatives, to building a diverse set of projects that are extremely rich in possibilities for tackling violence against women. In this edition, we brought together the experience and complementary perspectives of 20 evaluators who are protagonists in the cause, to arrive at a selection that would leverage those that stood out, whether for their innovative character, potential for impact and scalability, or for their assertive focus on strengthening the network of care for women in situations of violence. We would like to thank each of them for their voluntary and valuable work, and we are certain that their generous dedication to the cause will contribute to the transformations we all want to see," says Daniela Grelin, executive director of the Avon Institute.

"We received 447 projects from 25 states in all regions of the country, which once again reinforces the importance of this partnership for ending violence against women and donating resources to women's organizations that are carrying out this fight throughout Brazil," says Amalia Fischer, general coordinator of the ELAS Fund.

Since 2012, the Fale sem Medo Fund has supported 77 projects and has been strengthened by the results achieved by grantees. More than 52,000 direct beneficiaries and more than 2 million indirect beneficiaries have already been reached. With this new call for proposals, and the 20 new projects selected, the Speak Out Without Fear Fund will have supported 97 projects, consolidating its position as the biggest player and private investor in the fight to end violence against women in Brazil and one of the programs that has directed the most resources to the cause in recent years.
