On April 2 and 3, several funds and foundations met in Rio de Janeiro to analyze the creation of joint actions that would allow for a new vision of philanthropy. The event was organized by Synergos, ELAS, Rebouças e Associados and was supported by the Ford Foundation.

The meeting, mediated by Nádia Rebouças, encouraged the creation of a network of grantmakers focused on social justice and working to transform the concept of Brazilian philanthropy, which is still very much linked to welfare and charity.

"The formation of this network simply seeks to highlight the importance and effectiveness of working together to achieve new scenarios of social justice. Our main goal is to pool our efforts," says ELAS Executive Coordinator Amália Fischer.
