Gabriela Leite defined herself as a retired prostitute. She was thefounder of the fashion label Daspu, founder of the NGO Davida, which defends the rights of prostitutes and promotes citizenship, and creator of the Brazilian Network of Prostitutes. Te also promoted important actions in the fight against AIDS and, for her work in this area, she was honored during the São Paulo AIDS Prevention Support Group (GAPA) - the first HIV prevention NGO in the country - as one of the 100 names that made the history of the fight against the disease in Brazil. It is with sadness that we say goodbye to the activist who brought citizenship and respect to prostitutes in Brazil.
