Brazilian writer and feminist Rose Marie Muraro died last Saturday in Rio de Janeiro. A member of the Honorary Council of the ELAS Fund, she dedicated her life to equal rights for women. In 2005 she was recognized by the federal government as Patron of Brazilian Feminism. She was responsible for dozens of books, translations and editions that supported female empowerment, such as "The Sexuality of Brazilian Women".
"Rose was one of the first feminists in Brazil. It was an honor to have her on the ELAS Honorary Council. This is a great loss for all of us," commented ELAS board member and founder Madalena Guilhon.
