The organization black women Maria Mulher was nominated to receive the Deputado Carlos Santos trophy in the category "Affirmative Policies Directed at black women", awarded by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio Grande do Sul. The trophy is awarded to personalities who have worked or are working on behalf of the black community. 

The organization was appointed because of its work as a defending women's rights and fighting to improve the living conditions of the Afro-Brazilian population. The award ceremony will take place in a solemn session of the ALRS Plenary on November 17, 2010, at 2 pm.
