Dialogues on sexual and reproductive rights
The end of May marked the end of a dialogue on sexual and reproductive rights in Brazil. The event brought together women's organizations and networks specializing in the issue to analyze the challenges facing the country and the strategies that need to be developed to prevent setbacks and the loss of rights.

GIFE thematic panel on female empowerment

Daspu on Display
On Wednesday, March 19, the Daspu label returned to the scene with a fashion show launching pieces in homage to its founder, Gabriela Leite. The evening, which had the support of ELAS, opened the Daspu on Display event, which runs in several stages until April 29 at the Maria Teresa Vieira Art Center (Rua da Carioca, 85, Centro, Rio de Janeiro).
Special program International Women's Day
Since 2013, ELAS Fundo de Investimento Social has collaborated with Rede Globo's Social Responsibility at various times. We would like to congratulate Globo for the tribute it paid to women on March 8, during the day's programming, which included, for example, 110 news programs led by women on the panel, 186 reports on general topics related to women, 35 entertainment programs with women as presenters and record ratings for the Jornal Nacional.
Event celebrates results of the Speak Without Fear Fund
On March 12, the results of the ten groups and organizations supported by the Speak Without Fear Fund, an initiative of the Avon Institute in partnership with ELAS and UN Women, were presented. The event, held at FIRJAN, featured a traveling edition of Rádio Mulher and several interviewees to celebrate the closing of the call for proposals and International Women's Day.
Positive women: prejudice is negative
The Movimento das Cidadãs Posithivas do Rio de Janeiro (Movement of Positive Citizens of Rio de Janeiro) held a meeting last week, from March 11 to 13, to discuss issues related to women living with HIV/AIDS, as well as to analyze policies for dealing with STDs and HIV. The last day of the event was marked by a public action at the famous Central do Brasil train station in Rio de Janeiro to launch the A vida com HIV pode ser positHIVa campaign. Negative is prejudice.
Le Petit Marché and ELAS celebrate two years of partnership
For the second consecutive year, ELAS receives a donation from Le Petit Marché, an accessories and decoration company. Run by two young women, the business believes in turning products into possibilities. To this end, it donates a percentage of the funds raised from the sale of the pieces to the Fund. "Since its conception, it was born from the idea of developing a sustainable cycle between customers, company and society aiming to generate impact on the lives of Brazilian women.
Confraternização do Programa Elas em Movimento
No dia 29 de janeiro, foi realizado evento de confraternização do Programa Elas em Movimento, um ação da Chevron que conta com a execução do ELAS Fundo de Investimento Social. Durante a celebração, que aconteceu na sede do Conselho Estadual dos Direitos da Mulher (CEDIM), os empreendimentos criados pela iniciativa apresentaram seus planos de negócio e as conquistas, as mudanças e os desafios vivenciados.
Training for the XVIII Project Competition groups
The first week of December marked the training of the groups selected through the XVIII Project Competition, which is supported by the MAC Aids Fund. The program included knowledge and debates on the HIV/AIDS scenario in Brazil and around the world, how to handle money and Communication and Marketing.
Women in the Clinton Global Initiative
The Cliton Global Initiative event taking place in the second week of December featured the panel Development: introducing young people to the game, which was mediated by the director of Womens Win, Maria Bobenrieth. The initiative also had the participation of Caitlin Davis Fisher, from the Guerreiras Project, a group working to empower women and end violence through soccer, which is being funded by ELAS through a partnership with the Avon Institute and UN Women.
Quilombola leader dies in Paraíba
The leader, Maria do Céu Ferreira da Silva, did not resist the burn injuries caused by her ex-husband. She was the president of the Association of Black Prairie Women of Serra do Talhado and a leader of the quilombola community of Serra do Talhado Urbano, in the state of Paraíba. The activist was known for being a generous woman, "great of soul, mind and heart". She went to great lengths to defend the quilombola people and black women and fight for improvements for her community.
