Tribute to Gabriela Leite
Gabriela Leite se definia como prostituta aposentada. Foi a idealizadora da grife Daspu, fundadora da ONG Davida, de defesa dos direitos das prostitutas e de promoção à cidadania e criadora Rede Brasileira de Prostitutas. Também promoveu ações importantes na luta contra a aids e, por seu trabalho nessa área, foi homenageada durante pelo Grupo de Apoio à Prevenção à Aids (GAPA) de São Paulo – primeira ONG de prevenção ao HIV do país – como um dos 100 nomes que fizeram a história da luta contra a doença no Brasil. É com tristeza que damos adeus à ativista que trouxe cidadania e respeito às prostitutas do Brasil.
No more violence in Rio de Janeiro

The International Day of Afro-Latin American and Afro-Caribbean Women was created on July 25, 1992. Embroiderers of Coroa inaugurate new headquarters
The Bordadeiras da Coroa group, from Rio de Janeiro, has opened the doors to its new headquarters and shop. The space, as well as special sewing rooms, has a large terrace where women from the community will be welcomed for training activities and dialogues on human rights.

Artists for an end to violence
In Rio de Janeiro, each person who passed by the ELAS stand had the opportunity to write a message of encouragement and support for the fight for women's rights. The methodology of the mobiles also included the participation of some TV Globo actors who left their message about the importance of female empowerment.
ELAS is a partner in Global Action for Women
The first themed edition of Global Action took place last Saturday, May 18, in 28 cities. The highlights were the promotion of the Maria da Penha Law, the PEC for domestic workers and women's rights. In Rio de Janeiro, for example, the event featured an ELAS stand, which brought together the groups and organizations it supports, which assisted more than 2,500 people who visited the space.

GLOBAL WOMEN'S ACTION TAKES PLACE ON MAY 18
On Saturday, May 18, Global Action for Women will take place for the first time in several Brazilian states. The initiative will offer free preventive health services, social and leisure activities, as well as information on women's human rights.
