On June 2 and 3, the Free Feminist University will be accepting applications for its new course: Feminism and Everyday Life. Aimed at young women aged 15 to 20, the course is part of one of the projects supported by the Speak Without Fear Fund through the 2016 call for proposals.

The course aims to strengthen the self-confidence and autonomy of young women to confront sexist violence and to promote reflection and debate on the feminist movement, sharing knowledge and experiences with women who are discovering and want to learn more about and participate in feminism.

The central element is the debate of ideas, based on the experiences of the participants and provocations that encourage reflection and free thinking. There will be discussion forums and live chats, reflections and debates on the roots (patriarchal, racist, capitalist and heteronormative) of violence against women, as well as the causes of its maintenance and reproduction. The course is also the first step in a training process on domestic violence that will involve managers and feminists with experience in public policy advocacy.

The course lasts two months and starts on June 10th. The vacancies are for 250 young people aged between 15 and 20, high school and first year university students, with priority given to black women and indigenous people, and with a balance of participation by different regions.

Only pairs, trios or groups (four people or more) who are willing to take the course together and collectively reflect on and discuss the issues being debated and complete the tasks together can sign up.
